Mag2 isn't a webcam. It's a webcam mount that works with the best webcams on the market. We didn't integrate our own webcam with Mag2 because there are already so many great options from leading vendors such as Logitech, Opal, Lumina, Cisco, Lenovo, and Insta360.
By allowing you to use any USB-C webcam, Mag2 gives you the flexibility to upgrade or switch to a new model at your own discretion. No vendor lock-in!

Mag2 attaches directly to your screen using display-safe™ magnetic coupling. It's a little known fact that nearly every modern monitor on the market has enough magnetic materials behind the screen to support magnetic mounting.
For laptops and other non-magnetic screens, we include a backplate to provide support from behind your screen. Mag2 and the backplate are both coated in a non-static rubberized material that will prevent scratches to your screen and case.

When used properly, Mag2 will not cause any damage to your screen. The magnetic base is composed of solid plastic polymer with a specialized display-safe™ non-static rubberized coating to ensure safety.
Modern LCD and LED display technology is in no way affected by magnets.

By putting your webcam directly in front of your screen, you can maintain eye contact while reading a script, referencing notes, or looking at your audience. Plus you'll have noticably better framing by positioning your webcam at eye level rather than above your head — no more unflattering angles!

We don't have a price yet. However, Mag2 will be priced so that it is affordable for professionals who are also investing, or have invested, in high quality webcams.

It's a common myth that magnets can damage displays. This idea originated from older Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) screens which used cathode ray guns to project on the back of a large hollow screen.
Modern LCD and LED display technology is not affected by magnets.

Mag2 is meant to be positioned directly under the person you are talking to or the script you are reading. By positioning Mag2 this way you can look directly at the person you are speaking to while also looking near the lens of the webcam.
The problem with built-in webcams or traditional webcam mounts is that even if you try to position what you're looking at near the top of your screen, your gaze will still appear to be looking down.

It all comes down to how much value you put on the quality of your image. There are many tiny coin-sized webcams on the market designed to facilitate eye contact, but none of them compare in terms of quality and features to the more professional webcams compatible with Mag2.
Although smaller eye-contact webcams might appear to be an ideal solution, you'll be settling on lackluster image quality while being locked into their hardware and software.

With software solutions you lose complete control over your eyes, causing you to come off as robotic. Beyond that, most popular solutions from industry-leading tech companies require expensive hardware GPU acceleration making them impractical.
